Today I’m going to be Reviewing a game I got in the Spring Sale on the Xbox called Punch Club!
Hours Played – 3 Hours
Platform – Xbox One (Is also available on PlayStation 4, Nintendo DS and PC
Punch Club is a sporting management simulation developed by Lazy Bear Games and published by tinyBuild. In the game, the player manages an upcoming boxer in training and preparation for a series of boxing matches at a local club, while searching for clues of who killed their father. The game was developed as a humorous take on action films of the 1980s and 1990s and was released on March 31st, 2017.
During the boxer’s childhood, his father was murdered by an unidentified gunman wearing a trench coat in an alley. The orphaned boxer is adopted by a police officer named Frank until the boxer hits adulthood. While attempting to look for work, the boxer gets beaten in a street fight. Witnessing the boxer’s potential, an old man named Mick approaches him and guides the boxer into training at a local gym. The boxer undergoes training and participates in a minor boxing league as well as an underground fight club.
So from the following Background and Story of the game you can tell straight away from it’s a clone from the film’s Rocky! And we all love the Rocky Films surely?
But with this game from what I played for the 3 hours I did enjoy playing it as it’s different to games that are being released today but it did remind me of a really old game on the Game Boy Colour called Monkey Puncher, It’s basically the same as this game but your training a Monkey to become Boxing Champion.
Back to this game though it’s fun, creative and when you level up your character there is even a skill tree to increase and improve your fighter, not only that your fighter can go to work to earn money for his Gym training and spar training or he can stay at home and train for free it’s your choice that makes the game more different and challenging.
Overall this game is a time killer but there are a few Pros and Cons to it.
- Interesting World and Areas to Explore
- Great Sound effects
- Skill Tree to Improve Fighter
- Pixel Graphics to give it that Retro Feeling
- Can be Repetitive
- Automated Combat
- The game can crash sometimes.
All in all, I’m going to give this game a 3/5 Stars a great game to kill time and gives you that Rocky feels to the game.
