Red Dead Redemption 2 Review

Outlaws? Cowboys? JOHN MARSTON! That’s right Red Dead Redemption 2 is out and has been rocking the gaming industry since it’s release and now here is my take on the game.

When it comes to Rockstar Games they don’t mess around with releasing a game this game was in development for 10+ Years! and shipping over 17 Million copies of the game around the world it is a selling phenomenal within the gaming world.

But enough with the jargon lets get to it.

The story is long as and I still haven’t completed this game which isn’t a bad thing but the story is before Red Dead Redemption following the game that John Marston was in but you play as a new face called Arther Morgan and outlaw within the gang that is on the run from Blackwater, the story is gripping and makes you want to play more and more with me playing for 12 hours straight and I haven’t done that with gaming since Grand Theft Auto and Resident Evil games.

The Story is as open as it can be you can roam the world and pick up the story whenever you want another reason I like Rockstar Games and with that said on to the next subject.

The map for this game is roughly 29 Square Miles, doesn’t sound a lot but GTA V is 50 Square Miles but you have cars to speed off in on GTA with RDR2 you don’t it’s either Horse or walk! And this map just beats Bethesda’s Skyrim map which was 24 Miles and that felt like forever to get around places.

Below here is a map of the comparison of GTA V’s map and RDR2’s Map.

The hunting on this game is beastly it’s been so thought out and you have to prepare yourself with the correct weapons and bows as well as bait to lure the animal to get the kill shot in, I’m really impressed with the hunting on this game and for hours on end I was trying to find the legendary animals in each zone on the maps to get there plets and make some money.

The shooting mechanics haven’t changed since Max Payne 3 only improved them but that’s not a bad thing why change something or fix something if it’s not broke and with this game, the shooting is great aiming down the gun’s sight to kill your enemies or to Lasso them and put them on a train track (We’ve all done it don’t lie) to throwing Tomahawks this game feels great to play and the different weapons you can buy makes this game more and more enjoyable.

The environment for this game is amazing it looks beautiful and you can tell why this game was so long in development everything has detail and all I’m going to say is riding your horse watching the sun go up or down is a nice touch.

Mini Games

And if being an outlaw is too much for you then why don’t you try your luck at Poker, Blackjack, Domino’s and Five Finger Fillet these games were in the original and I’m glad to see them back in this game it gives you something to do to past time or even try and make a few dollars along the way.

Out of Five?

I could continue talking about RDR2 all day as there are so many things I’ve not covered within this review but I think I’ve said enough to give it the rating it deserves and that’s 5/5! this was a no brainer and from the word go I knew this would have been a game worth playing so much so It’s taken me ages to write this review!

  1. One of my favorite games of all time. Although, I still haven’t finished it. The truth is I really can’t bring myself to watch the ending. In my world… well, that ending isn’t going to happen. Haha. Great review.

      1. It’s a crappy ending. Somehow I made it to the end of Red Dead 1 without spoiling myself. It came as a total shock, and eventual acceptance. Knowing how that ended, I let myself play about 50% of the game before I gave in and googled the spoilers. This game deserved a better ending.
