That’s right Warriors I’m going back to 1998 to look at one of the most cinematic cutscenes, detailing and story gripping games back then on the PlayStation.
Metal Gear Solid!
For those of you that don’t know what Metal Gear Solid is or just not a fan let me explain what it is.
Metal Gear Solid is an action-adventure stealth video game developed by Konami in 1998, the game was directed, produced, and written by Hideo Kojima which now has become a legend in his own words shame Konami did the dirty on him.
The game follows Solid Snake, a soldier who infiltrates a nuclear weapons facility to neutralize the terrorist threat from FOXHOUND. Snake must liberate two hostages, the head of DARPA and the president of a major arms manufacturer, confront the terrorists, and stop them from launching a nuclear strike.
With this being said Metal Gear Solid was well received, shipping more than six million copies and in America, it is reported that Metal Gear Solid sold 1.06 million copies and earned $51.8 million in revenue during 1998 alone also scoring an average of 94/100 on the aggregate website Metacritic and it is regarded as one of the greatest and most important video games and helped popularize the stealth genre.
So What Makes This Game Great?
This game is wonderful to play as back in 98 there weren’t any games like Metal Gear on the PlayStation and it was something completely different to play than the usual games that were out in 1998 like Tekken 3, Grand Theft Auto, Oddworld, Crash Bandicoot and the infamous Final Fantasy VII (Which were still waiting for that remake!) but this game had everything Guns, Gadgets, stealth and even a crazy cutscene involving someone dying on the toilet.
That being said time to rate this game!
Out of five this one is got to be a strong 4 I remember playing this game at a friends house when I was 9 and he was stuck on the Final Boss and he borrowed it me to see if I could get to the part he was stuck on and do it for him anyway after about 1-2 Months he asked for it back so I had to get my mum to buy the game for me but I did it in the end and I remember buying all the Metal Gear’s (Besides the PSP ones and Metal Gear Survive) after this and every one of them got better and better (Besides Metal Gear Survive but I’ll let that one slide)
Plus I remember talking to Tom about Metal Gear and how much he loved it and I feel that he should be the one writing this blog not me as I know I’ve probably missed loads out to justify the 4 Stars in his eyes.
Well, thanks for reading Warriors! What do you think of Metal Gear? Let me know in the Comments below!
