Today I’m going to be discussing DLC that felt like a completely different game from the original.
So let’s jump straight in!
4. Nuka World – Fallout 4 – 2016
In 2016 Bethesda released their sixth add on for their post-apocalyptic world Fallout 4 where this DLC took you away from the Wastelands and to another area which was an amusement park which consisted of Nuka Cola! (Shame all the Nuka Cola was gone) and was replaced with raiders, the same raiders that you have to work with throughout this entire DLC.
Listening to broadcast from The Nuka-World Amusement Park, the Sole Survivortravels to the theme park. Put through a “game” known as The Gauntlet, the Sole Survivor manages to kill Overboss Colter, and becomes the overboss of the three Nuka-World raider gangs — The Operators, The Disciples and The Pack
But you gained another companion from this add-on as well as dishing out what gang of raiders own what part of the park after you cleared it out.
All in all, it wasn’t such a bad Add on for the game and gave the game another 8-10 Hours gameplay.
3. Undead Nightmare – Red Dead Redemption – 2010
In 2010 Rockstar released Red Dead Redemption which was a game and a half on its own then they release Undead Nightmare which became a completely different game to what you were playing and featured Zombies!
The game is set after saving John’s family and before his eventual execution, An infectious outbreak of unknown origin amongst those on the frontier is rumoured to be caused by either Seth Briars stealing the glass eye from Tumbleweed, Nigel West Dickens with his miracle tonic, or the Mexicans by bringing the disease over the border from Nuevo Paraiso.
Anything Rockstar do is basically a gift from the gods they take so much time on their games to make them a masterpiece and I remember getting this straight away when it came out I held back when Red Dead came out for a month but then bought it and loved every minute of it so when I heard about this I got it straight away.
2. The Last of Us Left Behind – 2014
Back in 2014 Naughty Dog released this as DLC for The Last of Us which over time became its own game you could buy separately it did feature less combat than that of the main game, with the DLC focusing more on exploration and the narrative which made this game more of a scenic game and story driven.
The story of Left Behind follows a non-linear timeline of both Ellie’s time with Riley before meeting Joel, and the aftermath of the fight with David’s group at the University of Eastern Colorado
I’ve bought this and it’s on my pile to play next I just need to put down Resident Evil 2 and Fallout 76 to give this some much love.
1. The Witcher 3 – Blood and Stone – 2016
The Witcher 3 was big enough it didn’t need expansion but in 2016 CD Projekt Red decided it needed one giving us 20+ Hours of gameplay that introduced a new in-game region called Toussaint it also featured new characters, new dangerous monsters, new armours, new weapons, and a new Gwent deck of cards!
“Explore Toussaint, a remote land untouched by war, where you will unravel the horrifying secret behind a beast terrorizing the kingdom. With all trails leading to dead ends, only a witcher can solve the mystery and survive the evil lurking in the night.” (Wikia)
This is by far one of the best add-ons that have been made for a game it shows that CD Projekt Red love their work and when you have one of the biggest game maps around you can see why.
And the worst bit is that I haven’t played this game yet! what am I doing!
Anyway thanks for reading people there are more DLC’s that I haven’t mentioned is there any I should have mentioned? let me know in the comments below!
