My Top Ten PS2 Games!

What’s up Warriors and today I’m going to be discussing my top ten PS2 Games!

I’ve been wanting to do a post like this for ages but it’s been so hard choosing ten games out of all the games that I had for the PS2 but I think I may have finally done it with a little help from Tom, James and Emily.

Also, this is My Top Ten so there will most probably be games that are in your list that didn’t make the cut on mine so let me know in the comments below!

Let’s Dive Straight In!

Number Ten – Max Payne (Rockstar Games 2001)

This game was a classic back in 2001 it also scared the crap out of me as well but the diving and shooting mechanics back then was amazing for me and it made me feel like John McClane. Didn’t really play the second one not sure why but I was hooked on the third one when I had it on PS3 but it always made me think back to the original.

Number Nine – Way of the Samurai 2 (Capcom 2003)

This game was so different at the time it was released and it was a free roam game with missions and quests and with this game, I just loved walking around the towns scaring the local folk with my sword and fighting the gangs, in 2003 this game was pretty complex and well it was fun to play it’s just a shame number three didn’t stand up to the expectations if gave.

Number Eight – WWE Smackdown Here Comes The Pain (Yuke’s 2003)

It’s not a top ten list without a wrestling game, this game took a lot and I mean a lot of my hours playing I remember playing this at the weekends and after school (Yes showing my age now) but this was by far the best one they did on the PS2 the story was great, create a wrestler took me hours to make sure it was perfect, and it had all the latest wrestlers in the game at the time it was ace.

Weird in a way as wrestling games this day I really don’t get along with now.

Number Seven – Splinter Cell (Ubisoft 2002)

Splinter cell

A while back I did a throwback on this game and I said how much I really liked this game and I even gave this 3/5 stars it made stealth games what they are today and games like Sniper Elite in a way look up to these games giving the concept of quietly moving and killing your target.

This game was fun and I remember always getting stuck on the 3rd mission or 4th mission where you have to infiltrate the CIA.

Number Six – Gran Turismo 3 A-Spec (Polyphony 2001)

This racing game was the ultimate car game to own back in 2001 and it was amazing especially the one song that reminds me of this game (Link Here) and I remember when this song came on I try to speed and crash into the other racers. But the career mode on this was great you raced other people, won the racers and got new cars and you had to upgrade them to go faster and perform better.

This is way before Forza came on the scene but this will also be a personal fav.

Number Five – Tekken Tag Tournament (Namco 2000)

Even though this was in Arcades in 1997 in Japan it wasn’t released until 2000 on the consoles but what a game it was and I love Tekken games especially this one I wasted a lot of of time on this and always with the same two characters which were Hwoarang and Eddy Gordo. And not only that if you got bored of beating people up you could beat them at Bowling instead.

Number Four – Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty (Konami 2001)

Wow, I’m actually finding hard to put this at number four but I’ll have too, this game at the time of release was something else. This game was so Weird, Interesting and F***ed Up in the same context. But it made this game a masterpiece and Hideo Kojima is an amazing and creative game maker, Enough said.

If you haven’t played Metal Gear Solid then get on it now!

Number Three – Resident Evil 4 (Capcom 2005)

I’ve always been a fan of Resident Evil since the day I got it on PS1 and it scared the living daylights out of me but this game was amazing it changed the camera angles and gave you more feel when killing the I want to say Zombies but it was the Parasites within them that made them crazy. And still to this day I hate the guys with the chainsaws they annoy me so much!

This game is a much play, especially If I’ve brought it on PS2, Gamecube and PS4!

Number Two – Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater (Konami 2004)

Three years after MGS2 we get treated to this masterpiece which was another great addition to the franchise plus you get to eat snakes! (It’s literally in the title) But I remember doing the PS2 cheat where you changed the time on your console to kill The End by old age, funny as!

I even remember trying to speed run this game skipping the dialogues and cutscenes I think I did it in 7 hours and I wish I had the Memory card still to see if it was but this game was great and another great concept from Hideo Kojima.

Notable Mentions

Before I give my number one to you I’ve got a few notable mentions that didn’t make the list and well it took me long enough to choose 10 games for this list but here are a few that didn’t make it.

Simpsons Road Rage – Basically Crazy Taxi with the Simpsons

Call of Duty 3 – Was a good Shooter for its time and the story was very power-driven.

The Sims Bustin Out – Was nice seeing The Sims come to console

Final Fantasy X – Great game but you can’t beat the classics of them.

The Bouncer – Beat Em Up game and another that took hours away of mine

Need for Speed Underground 2 – “Riders of the Storm” Enough Said.

Tony Hawks Underground – Great story to a skating game and an underdog story

Kill Zone – Actually kills me leaving this off the list such a good game Definalty number 11 on my list.

GTA 3 – Another game that deserves to be on the list and a lot of time wasted on.

And now Time for Number One!

Number One – Grand Theft Auto: Vice City (Rockstar 2002)

Rockstar is amazing at making games but still to this day the impact this game had on me at the age of 12! The Soundtrack the references to the ’80s this game had it all and still does in my eyes. I must of spent days and I mean days on this game so much so I knew the whole of V Rock station off by heart.

Plus the Character you play with Tommi Vercetti you build a bond with and I enjoyed playing with him, plus Lance Vance “Poor B******”

This game has had the most hours of my life out of playing this game still even with new releases that are out today (Yes! It beats Fallout but only just!)

I feel bad leaving Grand Theft Auto 3 and San Andreas off my list because they also took a lot of my life playing the games but Vice City will always come first in my eyes the missions, the mini-games, weapons, cars, and references in this game alone make it.

The World is Yours!

Well if you’ve made it this far then I must Thank You for reading my post!

  1. I don’t know if I could remember 10- crash bandicoot would be on there somewhere, splinter cell I loved, need for speed underground- YES. I played that stupid game way too much. Tomb raider would probably be in there too.

  2. I didn’t get into the PS2-era games until it was out the door, but I can’t deny that Metal Gear Solid 2 and Metal Gear Solid 3 are stellar games. I would personally say my favorite PS2 game is Persona 4.
